וַיְהִ֖י אַחֲרֵ֣י הַמַּגֵּפָ֑ה {פ} וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶ֧ל אֶלְעָזָ֛ר בֶּן־אַהֲרֹ֥ן הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃
vayehi akhare hammaggefah vayyomer Adonai el-mosheh ve'el elazar ben-aharon hakkohen lemor
When the plague was over, GOD said to Moses and to Eleazar son of Aaron the priest,
שְׂא֞וּ אֶת־רֹ֣אשׁ ׀ כׇּל־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֛ה וָמַ֖עְלָה לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם כׇּל־יֹצֵ֥א צָבָ֖א בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
se'u et-rosh kol-adat bene-yisra'el mibben esrim shanah vamalah levet avotam kol-yotse tsava beyisra'el
“Take a census of the whole Israelite community from the age of twenty years up, by their ancestral houses, all Israelites able to bear arms.”
וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֹתָ֖ם בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃
vayedabber mosheh ve'elazar hakkohen otam be'arvot mo'av al-yarden yerekho lemor
So Moses and Eleazar the priest, on the steppes of Moab, at the Jordan near Jericho, gave instructions about them, namely,
מִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ צִוָּ֨ה יְהֹוָ֤ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה֙ וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
mibben esrim shanah vama'elah ka'asher tsivvah Adonai et-mosheh uvene yisra'el hayyotse'im me'erets mitsrayim
those from twenty years up, as GOD had commanded Moses. The descendants of the Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt were:
רְאוּבֵ֖ן בְּכ֣וֹר יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּנֵ֣י רְאוּבֵ֗ן חֲנוֹךְ֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַחֲנֹכִ֔י לְפַלּ֕וּא מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפַּלֻּאִֽי׃
re'uven bekhor yisra'el bene re'uven khanokh mishpakhat hakhanokhi lefallu mishpakhat happallu'i
Reuben, Israel’s first-born. Descendants of Reuben: [Of] Enoch, the clan of the Enochites; of Pallu, the clan of the Palluites;
לְחֶצְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶצְרוֹנִ֑י לְכַרְמִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַכַּרְמִֽי׃
lekhetsron mishpakhat hakhetsroni lekharmi mishpakhat hakkarmi
of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the clan of the Carmites.
אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת הָראוּבֵנִ֑י וַיִּהְי֣וּ פְקֻדֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה וְאַרְבָּעִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃
elleh mishpekhot haruveni vayyihyu fequdehem sheloshah ve'arba'im elef usheva me'ot usheloshim
Those are the clans of the Reubenites. The men enrolled came to 43,730.
וּבְנֵ֥י פַלּ֖וּא אֱלִיאָֽב׃
uvene fallu eli'av
Born to Pallu: Eliab.
וּבְנֵ֣י אֱלִיאָ֔ב נְמוּאֵ֖ל וְדָתָ֣ן וַאֲבִירָ֑ם הֽוּא־דָתָ֨ן וַאֲבִירָ֜ם (קרואי) [קְרִיאֵ֣י] הָעֵדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִצּ֜וּ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹן֙ בַּעֲדַת־קֹ֔רַח בְּהַצֹּתָ֖ם עַל־יְהֹוָֽה׃
uvene eli'av nemu'el vedatan va'aviram hu-datan va'aviram (qrvy) [qeri'e] ha'edah asher hitsu al-mosheh ve'al-aharon ba'adat-qorakh behatsotam al-Adonai
The sons of Eliab were Nemuel, and Dathan and Abiram. These are the same Dathan and Abiram, chosen in the assembly, who agitated against Moses and Aaron as part of Korah’s band when they agitated against GOD.
וַתִּפְתַּ֨ח הָאָ֜רֶץ אֶת־פִּ֗יהָ וַתִּבְלַ֥ע אֹתָ֛ם וְאֶת־קֹ֖רַח בְּמ֣וֹת הָעֵדָ֑ה בַּאֲכֹ֣ל הָאֵ֗שׁ אֵ֣ת חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּמָאתַ֙יִם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וַיִּהְי֖וּ לְנֵֽס׃
vattiftakh ha'arets et-piha vattivla otam ve'et-qorakh bemot ha'edah ba'akhol ha'esh et khamishim umatayim ish vayyihyu lenes
Whereupon the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with Korah—when that band died, when the fire consumed the two hundred and fifty men—and they became an example.
וּבְנֵי־קֹ֖רַח לֹא־מֵֽתוּ׃ {ס}
uvene-qorakh lo-metu
The sons of Korah, however, did not die.
בְּנֵ֣י שִׁמְעוֹן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לִנְמוּאֵ֗ל מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַנְּמ֣וּאֵלִ֔י לְיָמִ֕ין מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּמִינִ֑י לְיָכִ֕ין מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּכִינִֽי׃
bene shimon lemishpekhotam linmu'el mishpakhat hannemu'eli leyamin mishpakhat hayyamini leyakhin mishpakhat hayyakhini
Descendants of Simeon by their clans: Of Nemuel, the clan of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the clan of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the clan of the Jachinites;
לְזֶ֕רַח מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַזַּרְחִ֑י לְשָׁא֕וּל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁאוּלִֽי׃
lezerakh mishpakhat hazzarkhi lesha'ul mishpakhat hasha'uli
of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites; of Saul, the clan of the Saulites.
אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת הַשִּׁמְעֹנִ֑י שְׁנַ֧יִם וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּמָאתָֽיִם׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot hashimoni shenayim ve'esrim elef umatayim
Those are the clans of the Simeonites; [men enrolled:] 22,200.
בְּנֵ֣י גָד֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לִצְפ֗וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַצְּפוֹנִ֔י לְחַגִּ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחַגִּ֑י לְשׁוּנִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּנִֽי׃
bene gad lemishpekhotam litsfon mishpakhat hatsefoni lekhaggi mishpakhat hakhaggi leshuni mishpakhat hashuni
Descendants of Gad by their clans: Of Zephon, the clan of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the clan of the Haggites; of Shuni, the clan of the Shunites;
לְאׇזְנִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאׇזְנִ֑י לְעֵרִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָעֵרִֽי׃
le'ozni mishpakhat ha'ozni le'eri mishpakhat ha'eri
of Ozni, the clan of the Oznites; of Eri, the clan of the Erites;
לַאֲר֕וֹד מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֲרוֹדִ֑י לְאַ֨רְאֵלִ֔י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאַרְאֵלִֽי׃
la'arod mishpakhat ha'arodi le'areli mishpakhat ha'areli
of Arod, the clan of the Arodites; of Areli, the clan of the Arelites.
אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת בְּנֵֽי־גָ֖ד לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot bene-gad lifqudehem arba'im elef vakhamesh me'ot
Those are the clans of Gad’s descendants; men enrolled: 40,500.
בְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה עֵ֣ר וְאוֹנָ֑ן וַיָּ֥מׇת עֵ֛ר וְאוֹנָ֖ן בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃
bene yehudah er ve'onan vayyamot er ve'onan be'erets kena'an
Born to Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
וַיִּהְי֣וּ בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְשֵׁלָ֗ה מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַשֵּׁ֣לָנִ֔י לְפֶ֕רֶץ מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפַּרְצִ֑י לְזֶ֕רַח מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַזַּרְחִֽי׃
vayyihyu vene-yehudah lemishpekhotam leshelah mishpakhat hashelani leferets mishpakhat happartsi lezerakh mishpakhat hazzarkhi
Descendants of Judah by their clans: Of Shelah, the clan of the Shelanites; of Perez, the clan of the Perezites; of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites.
וַיִּהְי֣וּ בְנֵי־פֶ֔רֶץ לְחֶצְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶצְרֹנִ֑י לְחָמ֕וּל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הֶחָמוּלִֽי׃
vayyihyu vene-ferets lekhetsron mishpakhat hakhetsroni lekhamul mishpakhat hekhamuli
Descendants of Perez: of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the clan of the Hamulites.
אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת יְהוּדָ֖ה לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שִׁשָּׁ֧ה וְשִׁבְעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot yehudah lifqudehem shisha veshivim elef vakhamesh me'ot
Those are the clans of Judah; men enrolled: 76,500.
בְּנֵ֤י יִשָּׂשכָר֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם תּוֹלָ֕ע מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַתּוֹלָעִ֑י לְפֻוָ֕ה מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפּוּנִֽי׃
bene yissashkhar lemishpekhotam tola mishpakhat hattola'i lefuvah mishpakhat happuni

לְיָשׁ֕וּב מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּשֻׁבִ֑י לְשִׁמְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁמְרֹנִֽי׃
leyashuv mishpakhat hayyashuvi leshimron mishpakhat hashimroni
of Jashub, the clan of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the clan of the Shimronites.
אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot yissashkhar lifqudehem arba'ah veshishim elef ushelosh me'ot
Those are the clans of Issachar; men enrolled: 64,300.
בְּנֵ֣י זְבוּלֻן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְסֶ֗רֶד מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַסַּרְדִּ֔י לְאֵל֕וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֵלֹנִ֑י לְיַ֨חְלְאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיַּחְלְאֵלִֽי׃
bene zevulun lemishpekhotam lesered mishpakhat hassardi le'elon mishpakhat ha'eloni leyakhle'el mishpakhat hayyakhle'eli
Descendants of Zebulun by their clans: Of Sered, the clan of the Seredites; of Elon, the clan of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the clan of the Jahleelites.
אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַזְּבוּלֹנִ֖י לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot hazzevuloni lifqudehem shishim elef vakhamesh me'ot
Those are the clans of the Zebulunites; men enrolled: 60,500.
בְּנֵ֥י יוֹסֵ֖ף לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה וְאֶפְרָֽיִם׃
bene yosef lemishpekhotam menasheh ve'efrayim
The sons of Joseph were Manasseh and Ephraim—by their clans.
בְּנֵ֣י מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה לְמָכִיר֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמָּכִירִ֔י וּמָכִ֖יר הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־גִּלְעָ֑ד לְגִלְעָ֕ד מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַגִּלְעָדִֽי׃
bene menasheh lemakhir mishpakhat hammakhiri umakhir holid et-gilad legilad mishpakhat haggiladi
Descendants of Manasseh: Of Machir, the clan of the Machirites.—Machir begot Gilead.—Of Gilead, the clan of the Gileadites.
אֵ֚לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד אִיעֶ֕זֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאִֽיעֶזְרִ֑י לְחֵ֕לֶק מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶלְקִֽי׃
elleh bene gilad i'ezer mishpakhat ha'i'ezri lekheleq mishpakhat hakhelqi
These were the descendants of Gilead: [Of] Iezer, the clan of the Iezerites; of Helek, the clan of the Helekites;
וְאַ֨שְׂרִיאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאַשְׂרִֽאֵלִ֑י וְשֶׁ֕כֶם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁכְמִֽי׃
ve'asri'el mishpakhat ha'asri'eli veshekhem mishpakhat hashikhmi
[of] Asriel, the clan of the Asrielites; [of] Shechem, the clan of the Shechemites;
וּשְׁמִידָ֕ע מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשְּׁמִידָעִ֑י וְחֵ֕פֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶפְרִֽי׃
ushemida mishpakhat hashemida'i vekhefer mishpakhat hakhefri
[of] Shemida, the clan of the Shemidaites; [of] Hepher, the clan of the Hepherites.—
וּצְלׇפְחָ֣ד בֶּן־חֵ֗פֶר לֹא־הָ֥יוּ ל֛וֹ בָּנִ֖ים כִּ֣י אִם־בָּנ֑וֹת וְשֵׁם֙ בְּנ֣וֹת צְלׇפְחָ֔ד מַחְלָ֣ה וְנֹעָ֔ה חׇגְלָ֥ה מִלְכָּ֖ה וְתִרְצָֽה׃
utselofkhad ben-khefer lo-hayu lo banim ki im-banot veshem benot tselofkhad makhlah veno'ah khoglah milkah vetirtsah
Now Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters. The names of Zelophehad’s daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.—
אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot menasheh ufequdehem shenayim vakhamishim elef usheva me'ot
Those are the clans of Manasseh; men enrolled: 52,700.
אֵ֣לֶּה בְנֵי־אֶפְרַ֘יִם֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְשׁוּתֶ֗לַח מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַשֻּׁ֣תַלְחִ֔י לְבֶ֕כֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַבַּכְרִ֑י לְתַ֕חַן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽתַּחֲנִֽי׃
elleh vene-efrayim lemishpekhotam leshutelakh mishpakhat hashutalkhi levekher mishpakhat habbakhri letakhan mishpakhat hattakhani
These are the descendants of Ephraim by their clans: Of Shuthelah, the clan of the Shuthelahites; of Becher, the clan of the Becherites; of Tahan, the clan of the Tahanites.
וְאֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י שׁוּתָ֑לַח לְעֵרָ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָעֵרָנִֽי׃
ve'elleh bene shutalakh le'eran mishpakhat ha'erani
These are the descendants of Shuthelah: Of Eran, the clan of the Eranites.
אֵ֣לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֤ת בְּנֵי־אֶפְרַ֙יִם֙ לִפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת אֵ֥לֶּה בְנֵי־יוֹסֵ֖ף לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃ {ס}
elleh mishpekhot bene-efrayim lifqudehem shenayim usheloshim elef vakhamesh me'ot elleh vene-yosef lemishpekhotam
Those are the clans of Ephraim’s descendants; men enrolled: 32,500. Those are the descendants of Joseph by their clans.
בְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְבֶ֗לַע מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַבַּלְעִ֔י לְאַשְׁבֵּ֕ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָֽאַשְׁבֵּלִ֑י לַאֲחִירָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֲחִירָמִֽי׃
bene vinyamin lemishpekhotam levela mishpakhat habbali le'ashbel mishpakhat ha'ashbeli la'akhiram mishpakhat ha'akhirami
The descendants of Benjamin by their clans: Of Bela, the clan of the Belaites; of Ashbel, the clan of the Ashbelites; of Ahiram, the clan of the Ahiramites;
לִשְׁפוּפָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּפָמִ֑י לְחוּפָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַחוּפָמִֽי׃
lishfufam mishpakhat hashufami lekhufam mishpakhat hakhufami
of Shephupham, the clan of the Shuphamites; of Hupham, the clan of the Huphamites.
וַיִּהְי֥וּ בְנֵי־בֶ֖לַע אַ֣רְדְּ וְנַעֲמָ֑ן מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הָֽאַרְדִּ֔י לְנַֽעֲמָ֔ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽנַּעֲמִֽי׃
vayyihyu vene-vela ard vena'aman mishpakhat ha'ardi lena'aman mishpakhat hanna'ami
The sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: [Of Ard,] the clan of the Ardites; of Naaman, the clan of the Naamanites.
אֵ֥לֶּה בְנֵי־בִנְיָמִ֖ן לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
elleh vene-vinyamin lemishpekhotam ufequdehem khamisha ve'arba'im elef veshesh me'ot
Those are the descendants of Benjamin by their clans; men enrolled: 45,600.
אֵ֤לֶּה בְנֵי־דָן֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם לְשׁוּחָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּחָמִ֑י אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת דָּ֖ן לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃
elleh vene-dan lemishpekhotam leshukham mishpakhat hashukhami elleh mishpekhot dan lemishpekhotam
These are the descendants of Dan by their clans: Of Shuham, the clan of the Shuhamites. Those are the clans of Dan, by their clans.
כׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַשּׁוּחָמִ֖י לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃ {ס}
kol-mishpekhot hashukhami lifqudehem arba'ah veshishim elef ve'arba me'ot
All the clans of the Shuhamites; men enrolled: 64,400.
בְּנֵ֣י אָשֵׁר֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְיִמְנָ֗ה מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַיִּמְנָ֔ה לְיִשְׁוִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיִּשְׁוִ֑י לִבְרִיעָ֕ה מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַבְּרִיעִֽי׃
bene asher lemishpekhotam leyimnah mishpakhat hayyimnah leyishvi mishpakhat hayyishvi livri'ah mishpakhat habberi'i
Descendants of Asher by their clans: Of Imnah, the clan of the Imnites; of Ishvi, the clan of the Ishvites; of Beriah, the clan of the Beriites.
לִבְנֵ֣י בְרִיעָ֔ה לְחֶ֕בֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶבְרִ֑י לְמַ֨לְכִּיאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַמַּלְכִּיאֵלִֽי׃
livne veri'ah lekhever mishpakhat hakhevri lemalki'el mishpakhat hammalki'eli
Of the descendants of Beriah: Of Heber, the clan of the Heberites; of Malchiel, the clan of the Malchielites.—
וְשֵׁ֥ם בַּת־אָשֵׁ֖ר שָֽׂרַח׃
veshem bat-asher sarakh
The name of Asher’s daughter was Serah.—

elleh mishpekhot bene-asher lifqudehem sheloshah vakhamishim elef ve'arba me'ot

Descendants of Naphtali by their clans: Of Jahzeel, the clan of the Jahzeelites; of Guni, the clan of the Gunites;
לְיֵ֕צֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיִּצְרִ֑י לְשִׁלֵּ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁלֵּמִֽי׃
leyetser mishpakhat hayyitsri leshillem mishpakhat hashillemi
of Jezer, the clan of the Jezerites; of Shillem, the clan of the Shillemites.
אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת נַפְתָּלִ֖י לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
vayedabber Adonai el-mosheh lemor
GOD spoke to Moses, saying,
לָאֵ֗לֶּה תֵּחָלֵ֥ק הָאָ֛רֶץ בְּנַחֲלָ֖ה בְּמִסְפַּ֥ר שֵׁמֽוֹת׃
la'elleh tekhaleq ha'arets benakhalah bemispar shemot
“Among these shall the land be apportioned as shares, according to the listed names:
לָרַ֗ב תַּרְבֶּה֙ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ וְלַמְעַ֕ט תַּמְעִ֖יט נַחֲלָת֑וֹ אִ֚ישׁ לְפִ֣י פְקֻדָ֔יו יֻתַּ֖ן נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃
larav tarbeh nakhalato velamat tamit nakhalato ish lefi fequdayw yuttan nakhalato
with larger groups increase the share, with smaller groups reduce the share. Each is to be assigned its share according to its enrollment.
אַךְ־בְּגוֹרָ֕ל יֵחָלֵ֖ק אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ לִשְׁמ֥וֹת מַטּוֹת־אֲבֹתָ֖ם יִנְחָֽלוּ׃
akh-begoral yekhaleq et-ha'arets lishmot mattot-avotam yinkhalu
The land, moreover, is to be apportioned by lot; and the allotment shall be made according to the listings of their ancestral tribes.
עַל־פִּי֙ הַגּוֹרָ֔ל תֵּחָלֵ֖ק נַחֲלָת֑וֹ בֵּ֥ין רַ֖ב לִמְעָֽט׃ {ס}
al-pi haggoral tekhaleq nakhalato ben rav limat
Each portion shall be assigned by lot, whether for larger or smaller groups.”
וְאֵ֨לֶּה פְקוּדֵ֣י הַלֵּוִי֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְגֵרְשׁ֗וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַגֵּ֣רְשֻׁנִּ֔י לִקְהָ֕ת מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקְּהָתִ֑י לִמְרָרִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַמְּרָרִֽי׃
ve'elleh fequde hallevi lemishpekhotam legereshon mishpakhat haggereshunni liqhat mishpakhat haqqehati limrari mishpakhat hammerari
This is the enrollment of the Levites by their clans: Of Gershon, the clan of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the clan of the Kohathites; of Merari, the clan of the Merarites.
אֵ֣לֶּה ׀ מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת לֵוִ֗י מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת הַלִּבְנִ֜י מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַֽחֶבְרֹנִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַמַּחְלִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמּוּשִׁ֔י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקׇּרְחִ֑י וּקְהָ֖ת הוֹלִ֥ד אֶת־עַמְרָֽם׃
elleh mishpekhot levi mishpakhat hallivni mishpakhat hakhevroni mishpakhat hammakhli mishpakhat hammushi mishpakhat haqqorkhi uqehat holid et-amram
These are the clans of Levi: The clan of the Libnites, the clan of the Hebronites, the clan of the Mahlites, the clan of the Mushites, the clan of the Korahites.—Kohath begot Amram.
וְשֵׁ֣ם ׀ אֵ֣שֶׁת עַמְרָ֗ם יוֹכֶ֙בֶד֙ בַּת־לֵוִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָלְדָ֥ה אֹתָ֛הּ לְלֵוִ֖י בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֣לֶד לְעַמְרָ֗ם אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶת־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת מִרְיָ֥ם אֲחֹתָֽם׃
veshem eshet amram yokheved bat-levi asher yaledah otah lelevi bemitsrayim vatteled le'amram et-aharon ve'et-mosheh ve'et miryam akhotam
The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt; she bore to Amram Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.
וַיִּוָּלֵ֣ד לְאַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶת־נָדָ֖ב וְאֶת־אֲבִיה֑וּא אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאֶת־אִיתָמָֽר׃
vayyivvaled le'aharon et-nadav ve'et-avihu et-elazar ve'et-itamar
To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
וַיָּ֥מׇת נָדָ֖ב וַאֲבִיה֑וּא בְּהַקְרִיבָ֥ם אֵשׁ־זָרָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃
vayyamot nadav va'avihu behaqrivam esh-zarah lifne Adonai
Nadab and Abihu died when they offered alien fire before GOD.—
וַיִּהְי֣וּ פְקֻדֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף כׇּל־זָכָ֖ר מִבֶּן־חֹ֣דֶשׁ וָמָ֑עְלָה כִּ֣י ׀ לֹ֣א הׇתְפָּקְד֗וּ בְּתוֹךְ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֠י לֹא־נִתַּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ נַחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
vayyihyu fequdehem sheloshah ve'esrim elef kol-zakhar mibben-khodesh vama'elah ki lo hotpaqedu betokh bene yisra'el ki lo-nittan lahem nakhalah betokh bene yisra'el
Their enrollment of 23,000 comprised all males from a month up. They were not part of the regular enrollment of the Israelites, since no share was assigned to them among the Israelites.
אֵ֚לֶּה פְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר פָּֽקְד֜וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב עַ֖ל יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ׃
elleh pequde mosheh ve'elazar hakkohen asher paqedu et-bene yisra'el be'arvot mo'av al yarden yerekho
These are the ones enrolled by Moses and Eleazar the priest who registered the Israelites on the steppes of Moab, at the Jordan near Jericho.
וּבְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ לֹא־הָ֣יָה אִ֔ישׁ מִפְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר פָּקְד֛וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּמִדְבַּ֥ר סִינָֽי׃
uve'elleh lo-hayah ish mippequde mosheh ve'aharon hakkohen asher paqedu et-bene yisra'el bemidbar sinay
Among these there was not one of those enrolled by Moses and Aaron the priest when they recorded the Israelites in the wilderness of Sinai.
כִּֽי־אָמַ֤ר יְהֹוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם מ֥וֹת יָמֻ֖תוּ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְלֹא־נוֹתַ֤ר מֵהֶם֙ אִ֔ישׁ כִּ֚י אִם־כָּלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן־נֽוּן׃ {ס}
ki-amar Adonai lahem mot yamutu bammidbar velo-notar mehem ish ki im-kalev ben-yefunneh vihoshua bin-nun
For GOD had said of them, “They shall die in the wilderness.” Not one of them survived, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
