Proverbs 2

beni im-tiqqakh amaray umitsvotay titspon ittakh

My son, if you accept my words And treasure up my commandments;

lehaqshiv lakhokhmah oznekha tatteh libbekha lattevunah

If you make your ear attentive to wisdom And your mind open to discernment;

ki im labbinah tiqra lattevunah titten qolekha

If you call to understanding And cry aloud to discernment,

im-tevaqshennah khakkasef vekhammatmonim takhpesennah

If you seek it as you do silver And search for it as for treasures,

az tavin yirat Adonai veda'at elohim timtsa

Then you will understand the fear of GOD And attain knowledge of God.

ki-Adonai yitten khokhmah mippiv da'at utevunah

For GOD grants wisdom; Knowledge and discernment are by God’s decree.

(vtsfn) [yitspon] laysharim tushiyyah magen leholekhe tom

Ability is reserved for the upright And [God] is a shield for those who live blamelessly,

lintsor orkhot mishpat vederekh khasidav yishmor

Guarding the paths of justice, Protecting the way of those who are loyal.

az tavin tsedeq umishpat umesharim kol-magal-tov

You will then understand what is right, just, And equitable—every good course.

ki-tavo khokhmah velibbekha veda'at lenafshekha yinam

For wisdom will enter your mind And knowledge will delight you.

mezimmah tishmor alekha tevunah tintserekkah

Foresight will protect you, And discernment will guard you.

lehatsilekha midderekh ra me'ish medabber tahpukhot

It will save you from an evildoer’s ways, From a man who speaks duplicity—

ha'ozevim orkhot yosher lalekhet bedarkhe-khoshekh

Those who leave the paths of rectitude To follow the ways of darkness,

hassemekhim la'asot ra yagilu betahpukhot ra

Who rejoice in doing evil And exult in an evildoer’s duplicity,

asher orkhotehem iqqeshim unelozim bemagelotam

All whose paths are crooked And who are devious in their course.

lehatsilekha me'isha zarah minnokhriyyah amareha hekheliqah

It will save you from the forbidden woman, From the alien woman whose talk is smooth,

ha'ozevet alluf ne'ureha ve'et-berit eloheha shakhekhah

Who forsakes the companion of her youth And disregards the covenant of her God.

ki shakhah el-mavet betah ve'el-refa'im mageloteha

Her house sinks down to Death, And her course leads to the shades.

kol-ba'eha lo yeshuvun velo-yassigu orkhot khayyim

All who go to her cannot return And find again the paths of life.

lema'an telekh bederekh tovim ve'orkhot tsaddiqim tishmor

So follow the way of the good And keep to the paths of the just.

ki-yesharim yishkenu-arets utemimim yivvateru vah

For the upright will inhabit the earth, The blameless will remain in it.

uresha'im me'erets yikkaretu uvogedim yissekhu mimmennah

While the wicked will vanish from the land And the treacherous will be rooted out of it.
