בְּצֵ֣את יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם בֵּ֥ית יַ֝עֲקֹ֗ב מֵעַ֥ם לֹעֵֽז׃
betset yisra'el mimmitsrayim bet ya'aqov me'am lo'ez
When Israel went forth from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech,
הָיְתָ֣ה יְהוּדָ֣ה לְקׇדְשׁ֑וֹ יִ֝שְׂרָאֵ֗ל מַמְשְׁלוֹתָֽיו׃
hayetah yehudah leqodsho yisra'el mamshelotayw
Judah became God’s holy one, Israel, God’s dominion.
הַיָּ֣ם רָ֭אָה וַיָּנֹ֑ס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן יִסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
hayyam ra'ah vayyanos hayyarden yissov le'akhor
The sea saw them and fled, Jordan ran backward,
הֶ֭הָרִים רָקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹֽאן׃
heharim raqedu khe'elim geva'ot kivne-tson
mountains skipped like rams, hills like sheep.
מַה־לְּךָ֣ הַ֭יָּם כִּ֣י תָנ֑וּס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן תִּסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
mah-llekha hayyam ki tanus hayyarden tissov le'akhor
What alarmed you, O sea, that you fled, Jordan, that you ran backward,
הֶ֭הָרִים תִּרְקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹֽאן׃
heharim tirqedu khe'elim geva'ot kivne-tson
mountains, that you skipped like rams, hills, like sheep?
מִלִּפְנֵ֣י אָ֭דוֹן ח֣וּלִי אָ֑רֶץ מִ֝לִּפְנֵ֗י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַעֲקֹֽב׃
millifne adon khuli arets millifne eloah ya'aqov
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Sovereign, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
הַהֹפְכִ֣י הַצּ֣וּר אֲגַם־מָ֑יִם חַ֝לָּמִ֗ישׁ לְמַעְיְנוֹ־מָֽיִם׃
hahofekhi hatsur agam-mayim khallamish lemayeno-mayim
who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flinty rock into a fountain.
