ledavid beshannoto et-tamo lifne avimelekh vayegareshehu vayyelakh

Of David, when he feigned madness in the presence of Abimelech, who turned him out, and he left.

avarekhah et-Adonai bekhol-et tamid tehillato befi

א I bless GOD at all times; praise is ever in my mouth.

ba-Adonai tithallel nafshi yishme'u anavim veyismakhu

ב I glory in GOD; let the lowly hear it and rejoice.

gaddelu la-Adonai itti uneromemah shemo yakhdav

ג Exalt GOD with me; let us extol the divine name together.

darashti et-Adonai ve'anani umikkol-megurotay hitsilani

ד I turned to GOD, and I was answered; I was saved from all my terrors.

hibbitu elayw venaharu ufenehem al-yekhparu

ה People look to [God] and are radiant; ו let their faces not be downcast.

zeh ani qara va-Adonai shamea umikkol-tsarotayw hoshi'o

ז Here was a lowly man who called— GOD listened, and delivered him from all his troubles.

khoneh malakh-Adonai saviv lire'ayw vayekhalletsem

ח The angel of GOD camps around those who show awe, and rescues them.

ta'amu ure'u ki-tov Adonai ashre haggever yekheseh-bbo

ט Taste and see how good GOD is; happy the one who takes refuge in the divine!

yeru et-Adonai qedoshayw ki-en makhsor lire'ayw

י Fear the ETERNAL, you consecrated ones, for those who fear [God] lack nothing.

kefirim rashu vera'evu vedoreshe Adonai lo-yakhseru khol-tov

כ Lions have been reduced to starvation, but those who turn to GOD shall not lack any good.

lekhu-vanim shimu-li yirat Adonai alammedkhem

ל Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you what it is to fear GOD.

mi-ha'ish hekhafets khayyim ohev yamim lirot tov

מ Which of you are eager for life and desire years of good fortune?

netsor leshonekha mera usefatekha middabber mirmah

נ Guard your tongue from evil, your lips from deceitful speech.

sur mera va'aseh-tov baqqesh shalom verodfehu

ס Shun evil and do good, seek amity and pursue it.

ene Adonai el-tsaddiqim ve'oznayw el-shavatam

ע GOD’s eyes are on the righteous, the ears, attentive to their cry.

pene Adonai be'ose ra lehakhrit me'erets zikhram

פ GOD’s face is set against evildoers, to erase their names from the earth.

tsa'aqu va-Adonai shamea umikkol-tsarotam hitsilam

צ They cry out, and GOD hears, and saves them from all their troubles.

qarov Adonai lenishbere-lev ve'et-dakke'e-ruakh yoshia

ק GOD is close to the brokenhearted; those crushed in spirit are delivered.

rabbot ra'ot tsaddiq umikkullam yatsilennu Adonai

ר Though their misfortunes be many, GOD will save the righteous from them all,

shomer kol-atsmotayw akhat mehennah lo nishbarah

ש Keeping all his bones intact, not one of them being broken.

temotet rasha ra'ah vesone'e tsaddiq yeshamu

ת One misfortune is the deathblow of the wicked; the foes of the righteous shall be ruined.

podeh Adonai nefesh avadayw velo yeshemu kol-hakhosim bo

GOD redeems the life of those who render service; no one who takes refuge in [God] shall be ruined.
