לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃

For the leader. A psalm of David.

שְׁמַע־אֱלֹהִ֣ים קוֹלִ֣י בְשִׂיחִ֑י מִפַּ֥חַד א֝וֹיֵ֗ב תִּצֹּ֥ר חַיָּֽי׃

shema-elohim qoli vesikhi mippakhad oyev titsor khayyay

Hear my voice, O God, when I plead; guard my life from the enemy’s terror.

תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי מִסּ֣וֹד מְרֵעִ֑ים מֵ֝רִגְשַׁ֗ת פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃

tastireni missod mere'im merigshat po'ale aven

Hide me from a band of evildoers, from a crowd of wrongdoers,

אֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁנְנ֣וּ כַחֶ֣רֶב לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם דָּרְכ֥וּ חִ֝צָּ֗ם דָּבָ֥ר מָֽר׃

asher shanenu khakherev leshonam darekhu khitsam davar mar

who whet their tongues like swords; they aim their arrows—cruel words—

לִירֹ֣ת בַּמִּסְתָּרִ֣ים תָּ֑ם פִּתְאֹ֥ם יֹ֝רֻ֗הוּ וְלֹ֣א יִירָֽאוּ׃

lirot bammistarim tam pitom yoruhu velo yira'u

to shoot from hiding at someone blameless, shooting suddenly and without fear.

יְחַזְּקוּ־לָ֨מוֹ ׀ דָּ֘בָ֤ר רָ֗ע יְֽ֭סַפְּרוּ לִטְמ֣וֹן מוֹקְשִׁ֑ים אָ֝מְר֗וּ מִ֣י יִרְאֶה־לָּֽמוֹ׃

yekhazzequ-lamo davar ra yesapperu litmon moqeshim ameru mi yireh-llamo

They arm themselves with an evil word; when they speak, it is to conceal traps; they think, “Who will see them?”

יַ֥חְפְּֽשׂוּ־עוֹלֹ֗ת תַּ֭מְנוּ חֵ֣פֶשׂ מְחֻפָּ֑שׂ וְקֶ֥רֶב אִ֝֗ישׁ וְלֵ֣ב עָמֹֽק׃

yakhpesu-olot tamnu khefes mekhuppas veqerev ish velev amoq

Let the wrongdoings they have concealed, each one’s inner, secret thoughts, be wholly exposed.

וַיֹּרֵ֗ם אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים חֵ֥ץ פִּתְא֑וֹם הָ֝י֗וּ מַכּוֹתָֽם׃

vayyorem elohim khets pitom hayu makkotam

God shall shoot them with arrows; they shall be struck down suddenly.

וַיַּכְשִׁיל֣וּהוּ עָלֵ֣ימוֹ לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם יִ֝תְנֹדְד֗וּ כׇּל־רֹ֥אֵה בָֽם׃

vayyakhshiluhu alemo leshonam yitnodedu kol-ro'eh vam

Their tongue shall be their downfall; all who see them shall recoil in horror;

וַיִּֽירְא֗וּ כׇּל־אָ֫דָ֥ם וַ֭יַּגִּידוּ פֹּ֥עַל אֱלֹהִ֗ים וּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֥הוּ הִשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃

vayyire'u kol-adam vayyaggidu po'al elohim uma'asehu hiskilu

all people shall stand in awe; they shall proclaim the work of God whose deed they perceived.

יִשְׂמַ֬ח צַדִּ֣יק בַּ֭יהֹוָה וְחָ֣סָה ב֑וֹ וְ֝יִתְהַלְל֗וּ כׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ {פ}

yismakh tsaddiq ba-Adonai vekhasah vo veyithalelu kol-yishre-lev

In GOD shall the righteous rejoice and take refuge; all the upright shall exult.
