hitqosheshu vaqoshu haggoy lo nikhsaf

Gather together, gather, O nation without shame,

beterem ledet khoq kemots avar yom beterem lo-yavo alekhem kharon af-Adonai beterem lo-yavo alekhem yom af-Adonai

Before the day the decree is born— The day flies by like chaff— Before GOD’s fierce anger Overtakes you, Before the day GOD’s anger Overtakes you.

baqqeshu et-Adonai kol-anve ha'arets asher mishpato pa'alu baqqeshu-tsedeq baqqeshu anavah ulay tissateru beyom af-Adonai

Seek GOD, All you humble of the land Who have fulfilled God’s law; Seek righteousness, Seek humility. Perhaps you will find shelter On the day of GOD’s anger.

ki azzah azuvah tihyeh ve'ashqelon lishmamah ashdod batsohorayim yegareshuha ve'eqron te'aqer

Indeed, Gaza shall be deserted And Ashkelon desolate; Ashdod’s people shall be expelled in broad daylight, And Ekron shall be uprooted.

hoy yosheve khevel hayyam goy keretim devar-Adonai alekhem kena'an erets pelishtim veha'avadtikh me'en yoshev

Ah, nation of Cherethites Who inhabit the seacoast! There is a word of GOD against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines: I will lay you waste Without inhabitants.

vehayetah khevel hayyam nevot kerot ro'im vegidrot tson

The seacoast Cheroth shall become An abode for shepherds and folds for flocks,

vehayah khevel lisherit bet yehudah alehem yirun bevatte ashqelon ba'erev yirbatsun ki yifqedem Adonai elohehem veshav (shvvtm) [shevitam]

And shall be a portion for the remnant of the House of Judah; On these [pastures] they shall graze [their flocks], They shall lie down at eventide In the houses of Ashkelon. For the ETERNAL their God will take note of them And restore their fortunes.

shamati kherpat mo'av vegiddufe bene ammon asher kherefu et-ammi vayyagdilu al-gevulam

I have heard the insults of Moab And the jeers of the Ammonites, Who have insulted My people And gloated over their country.

lakhen khay-ani ne'um Adonai tseva'ot elohe yisra'el ki-mo'av kisdom tihyeh uvene ammon ka'amorah mimshaq kharul umikhreh-melakh ushemamah ad-olam she'erit ammi yevozzum veyeter goyi yinkhalum

Assuredly, as I live —declares GOD of Hosts, the God of Israel— Moab shall become like Sodom And the Ammonites like Gomorrah: Clumps of weeds and patches of salt, And desolation evermore. The remnant of My people shall plunder them, The remainder of My nation shall possess them.

zot lahem takhat ge'onam ki kherefu vayyagdilu al-am Adonai tseva'ot

That is what they’ll get for their haughtiness, For insulting and jeering At the people of GOD of Hosts.

nora Adonai alehem ki razah et kol-elohe ha'arets veyishtakhavu-lo ish mimmeqomo kol iyye haggoyim

GOD will appear terrible against them, Causing all the gods on earth to shrivel; And all the coastlands of the nations Shall bow in homage— Everyone in their own home.

gam-attem kushim khalle kharbi hemmah

You Cushites too— They shall be slain by My sword.

veyet yado al-tsafon vi'abbed et-ashur veyasem et-nineveh lishmamah tsiyyah kammidbar

[God] will reach out against the north And destroy Assyria— Making Nineveh a desolation, Arid as the desert.

veravetsu vetokhah adarim kol-khayto-goy gam-qa'at gam-qippod bekhaftoreha yalinu qol yeshorer bakhallon khorev bassaf ki arzah erah

In it flocks shall lie down, Every species of beast, While jackdaws and owls roost on its capitals, The great owl hoots in the window, And the raven [croaks] on the threshold. For its cedarwork is laid bare.

zot ha'ir ha'allizah hayyoshevet lavetakh ha'omerah bilvavah ani ve'afsi od ekh hayetah leshammah marbets lakhayyah kol over aleha yishroq yania yado

Is this the exultant city That dwelt secure, That thought in her heart, “I am, and there is none but me”? Alas, she is become a waste, A lair of wild beasts! Everyone who passes by her Hisses and makes a hand gesture.
