Deuteronomy 33

vezot habberakhah asher berakh mosheh ish ha'elohim et-bene yisra'el lifne moto

This is the blessing with which Moses, the agent of God, bade the Israelites farewell before he died.

vayyomar Adonai missinay ba vezarakh misse'ir lamo hofia mehar paran ve'atah merivvot qodesh mimino (shdt) [esh dat] lamo

He said: GOD came from Sinai, And shone upon them from Seir— Appearing from Mount Paran, And approaching from Ribeboth-kodesh, Lightning flashing at them from [God’s] right.

af khovev ammim kol-qedoshayw beyadekha vehem tukku leraglekha yissa middabberotekha

Lover, indeed, of the people, Their hallowed are all in Your hand. They followed in Your steps, Accepting Your pronouncements,

torah tsivvah-lanu mosheh morashah qehillat ya'aqov

When Moses charged us with the Teaching As the heritage of the congregation of Jacob.

vayehi vishurun melekh behitassef rashe am yakhad shivte yisra'el

Then [God] became King in Jeshurun, When the heads of the people assembled, The tribes of Israel together.

yekhi re'uven ve'al-yamot vihi metayw mispar

May Reuben live and not die, Though few be his numbers.

vezot lihudah vayyomar shema Adonai qol yehudah ve'el-ammo tevi'ennu yadayw rav lo ve'ezer mitsarayw tihyeh

And this he said of Judah: Hear, O ETERNAL One, the voice of Judah And restore him to his people. Though his own hands strive for him, Help him against his foes.

ulelevi amar tummekha ve'urekha le'ish khasidekha asher nissito bemassah terivehu al-me merivah

And of Levi he said: Let Your Thummim and Urim Be with Your faithful one, Whom You tested at Massah, Challenged at the Waters of Meribah;

ha'omer le'aviv ule'immo lo re'itiv ve'et-ekhayw lo hikkir ve'et-banav lo yada ki shameru imratekha uveritekha yintsoru

Who said of his father and mother, “I consider them not.” His brothers he disregarded, Ignored his own children. Your precepts alone they observed, And kept Your covenant.

yoru mishpatekha leya'aqov vetoratekha leyisra'el yasimu qetorah be'appekha vekhalil al-mizbekhekha

They shall teach Your laws to Jacob And Your instructions to Israel. They shall offer You incense to savor And whole-offerings on Your altar.

barekh Adonai khelo ufo'al yadayw tirtseh mekhats motnayim qamayw umesanayw min-yequmun

Bless, O ETERNAL One, his substance, And favor his undertakings. Smite the loins of his foes; Let his enemies rise no more.

levinyamin amar yedid Adonai yishkon lavetakh alayw khofef alayw kol-hayyom uven ketefayw shakhen

Of Benjamin he said: Beloved of GOD, He rests securely close by, Ever protected, As he rests between God’s shoulders.

uleyosef amar mevorekhet Adonai artso mimmeged shamayim mittal umittehom rovetset takhat

And of Joseph he said: Blessed of GOD be his land With the bounty of dew from heaven, And of the deep that couches below;

umimmeged tevu'ot shamesh umimmeged geresh yerakhim

With the bounteous yield of the sun, And the bounteous crop of the moons;

umerosh harre-qedem umimmeged givot olam

With the best from the ancient mountains, And the bounty of hills immemorial;

umimmeged erets umelo'ah uretson shokheni seneh tavotah lerosh yosef uleqodqod nezir ekhayw

With the bounty of earth and its fullness, And the favor of the Presence in the Bush. May these rest on the head of Joseph, On the crown of the elect of his brothers.

bekhor shoro hadar lo veqarne re'em qarnayw bahem ammim yenaggakh yakhdav afse-arets vehem rivvot efrayim vehem alfe menasheh

Like a firstling bull in his majesty, He has horns like the horns of the wild-ox; With them he gores the peoples, The ends of the earth one and all. These are the myriads of Ephraim, Those are the thousands of Manasseh.

velizvulun amar semakh zevulun betsetekha veyissashkhar be'ohalekha

And of Zebulun he said: Rejoice, O Zebulun, on your journeys, And Issachar, in your tents.

ammim har-yiqra'u sham yizbekhu zivkhe-tsedeq ki shefa yammim yinaqu usefune temune khol

They invite their kin to the mountain, Where they offer sacrifices of success. For they draw from the riches of the sea And the hidden hoards of the sand.

ulegad amar barukh markhiv gad kelavi shakhen vetaraf zeroa af-qodqod

And of Gad he said: Blessed be the One who enlarges Gad! Poised is he like a lion To tear off arm and scalp.

vayyar reshit lo ki-sham khelqat mekhoqeq safun vayyete rashe am tsidqat Adonai asah umishpatayw im-yisra'el

He chose for himself the best, For there is the portion of the revered chieftain, Where the heads of the people come. He executed GOD’s judgments And decisions for Israel.

uledan amar dan gur aryeh yezanneq min-habbashan

And of Dan he said: Dan is a lion’s whelp That leaps forth from Bashan.

ulenaftali amar naftali seva ratson umale birkat Adonai yam vedarom yerashah

And of Naphtali he said: O Naphtali, sated with favor And full of GOD’s blessing, Take possession on the west and south.

ule'asher amar barukh mibbanim asher yehi retsuy ekhayw vetovel bashemen raglo

And of Asher he said: Most blessed of sons be Asher; May he be the favorite of his brothers, May he dip his foot in oil.

barzel unekhoshet minalekha ukheyamekha dovekha

May your doorbolts be iron and copper, And your security last all your days.

en ka'el yeshurun rokhev shamayim be'ezrekha uvega'avato shekhaqim

O Jeshurun, there is none like God, Riding through the heavens to help you, Through the skies in heavenly majesty.

me'onah elohe qedem umittakhat zero'ot olam vayegaresh mippanekha oyev vayyomer hashmed

The ancient God is a refuge, A support are the arms everlasting— Driving out the enemy before you By a command: Destroy!

vayyishkon yisra'el betakh badad en ya'aqov el-erets dagan vetirosh af-shamayw ya'arfu tal

Thus Israel dwells in safety, Untroubled is Jacob’s abode, In a land of grain and wine, Under heavens dripping dew.

ashrekha yisra'el mi khamokha am nosha ba-Adonai magen ezrekha va'asher-kherev ga'avatekha veyikkakhashu oyevekha lakh ve'attah al-bamotemo tidrokh

O happy Israel! Who is like you, A people delivered by GOD, Your protecting Shield, your Sword triumphant! Your enemies shall come cringing before you, And you shall tread on their backs.
