uvene yisra'el lemisparam rashe ha'avot vesare ha'alafim vehamme'ot veshoterehem hamesharetim et-hammelekh lekhol devar hammakhleqot habba'ah vehayyotset khodesh bekhodesh lekhol khodshe hashanah hammakhaloqet ha'akhat esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The number of Israelites—chiefs of clans, officers of thousands and hundreds and their clerks, who served the king in all matters of the divisions, who worked in monthly shifts during all the months of the year—each division, 24,000.

Over the first division for the first month—Jashobeam son of Zabdiel; his division had 24,000.

min-bene-ferets harosh lekhol-sare hatseva'ot lakhodesh harishon

Of the sons of Perez, he, the chief of all the officers of the army, [served] for the first month.

ve'al makhaloqet hakhodesh hasheni doday ha'akhokhi umakhaluqto umiqlot hannagid ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

Over the division of the second month—Dodai the Ahohite; Mikloth was chief officer of his division; his division had 24,000.

sar hatsava hashelishi lakhodesh hashelishi benayahu ven-yehoyada hakkohen rosh ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The third army officer for the third month—Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the chief priest; his division had 24,000.

hu venayahu gibbor hasheloshim ve'al-hasheloshim umakhaluqto ammizavad beno

That was Benaiah, one of the warriors of the thirty and over the thirty; and [over] his division was Ammizabad his son.

The fourth, for the fourth month, Asahel brother of Joab, and his son Zebadiah after him; his division had 24,000.

The fifth, for the fifth month, the officer Shamhut the Izrahite; his division had 24,000.

The sixth, for the sixth month, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; his division had 24,000.

hashevi'i lakhodesh hashevi'i khelets happeloni min-bene efrayim ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The seventh, for the seventh month, Helez the Pelonite, of the Ephraimites; his division had 24,000.

hashemini lakhodesh hashemini sibbekhay hakhushati lazzarkhi ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The eighth, for the eighth month, Sibbecai the Hushathite, of Zerah; his division had 24,000.

hatteshi'i lakhodesh hatteshi'i avi'ezer ha'annetoti (lvnymyny) [labben yemini] ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The ninth, for the ninth month, Abiezer the Anathothite, of Benjamin; his division had 24,000.

ha'asiri lakhodesh ha'asiri mahray hannetofati lazzarkhi ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The tenth, for the tenth month, Mahrai the Netophathite, of Zerah; his division had 24,000.

ashte-asar le'ashte asar hakhodesh benayah happiratoni min-bene efrayim ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The eleventh, for the eleventh month, Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the Ephraimites; his division had 24,000.

hashenem asar lishnem asar hakhodesh khelday hannetofati le'otni'el ve'al makhaluqto esrim ve'arba'ah alef

The twelfth, for the twelfth month, Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel; his division had 24,000.

ve'al shivte yisra'el laruveni nagid eli'ezer ben-zikhri lashimoni shefatyahu ben-ma'akhah

Over the tribes of Israel: Reuben: the chief officer, Eliezer son of Zichri. Simeon: Shephatiah son of Maacah.

lelevi khashavyah ven-qemu'el le'aharon tsadoq

Levi: Hashabiah son of Kemuel. Aaron: Zadok.

lihudah elihu me'akhe david leyissashkhar omri ben-mikha'el

Judah: Elihu, of the brothers of David. Issachar: Omri son of Michael.

lizvulun yishmayahu ben-ovadyahu lenaftali yerimot ben-azri'el

Zebulun: Ishmaiah son of Obadiah. Naphtali: Jerimoth son of Azriel.

livne efrayim hoshea ben-azazyahu lakhatsi shevet menasheh yo'el ben-pedayahu

Ephraimites: Hoshea son of Azaziah. The half-tribe of Manasseh: Joel son of Pedaiah.

lakhatsi hamenasheh giladah yiddo ben-zekharyahu levinyamin ya'asi'el ben-avner

Half Manasseh in Gilead: Iddo son of Zechariah. Benjamin: Jaasiel son of Abner.

ledan azarel ben-yerokham elleh sare shivte yisra'el

Dan: Azarel son of Jeroham. These were the officers of the tribes of Israel.

velo-nasa david misparam lemibben esrim shanah ulemattah ki amar Adonai leharbot et-yisra'el kekhokheve hashamayim

David did not take a census of those under twenty years of age, for GOD had promised to make Israel as numerous as the stars of heaven.

yo'av ben-tseruyah hekhel limnot velo khillah vayehi vazot qetsef al-yisra'el velo alah hammispar bemispar divre-hayyamim lammelekh david

Joab son of Zeruiah did begin to count them, but he did not finish; wrath struck Israel on account of this, and the census was not entered into the account of the chronicles of King David.

ve'al otserot hammelekh azmavet ben-adi'el ve'al ha'otsarot bassadeh be'arim uvakkefarim uvammigdalot yehonatan ben-uzziyyahu

Over the royal treasuries: Azmaveth son of Adiel. Over the treasuries in the country—in the towns, the hamlets, and the citadels: Jonathan son of Uzziah.

ve'al ose melekhet hassadeh la'avodat ha'adamah ezri ben-keluv

Over the field laborers in agricultural work: Ezri son of Chelub.

ve'al-hakkeramim shimi haramati ve'al shebbakkeramim le'otserot hayyayin zavdi hashifmi

Over the vineyards: Shimei the Ramathite. And over the produce in the vineyards for wine cellars: Zabdi the Shiphmite.

ve'al-hazzetim vehashiqmim asher bashefelah ba'al khanan haggederi ve'al-otserot hashemen yo'ash

Over the olive trees and the sycamores in the Shephelah: Baal-hanan the Gederite. Over the oil-stores: Joash.

ve'al-habbaqar haro'im basharon (shtry) [shirtay] hasharoni ve'al-habbaqar ba'amaqim shafat ben-adlay

Over the cattle pasturing in Sharon: Shirtai the Sharonite. And over the cattle in the valleys: Shaphat son of Adlai.

ve'al-haggemallim ovil hayyishme'eli ve'al-ha'atonot yekhdeyahu hammeronoti

Over the camels: Obil the Ishmaelite. And over the jennies: Jehdeiah the Meronothite.

ve'al-hatson yaziz hahagri kol-elleh sare harekhush asher lammelekh david

Over the flocks: Jaziz the Hagrite. All these were stewards of the property of King David.

vihonatan dod-david yo'ets ish-mevin vesofer hu vikhi'el ben-khakhmoni im-bene hammelekh

Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a master, and a scribe: Jehiel son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons.

va'akhitofel yo'ets lammelekh vekhushay ha'arki rea hammelekh

Ahitophel was a counselor to the king. Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

ve'akhare akhitofel yehoyada ben-benayahu ve'evyatar vesar-tsava lammelekh yo'av

After Ahitophel were Jehoiada son of Benaiah and Abiathar. The commander of the king’s army was Joab.
