lemakhleqot lesho'arim laqqorkhim meshelemyahu ven-qore min-bene asaf

The divisions of the gatekeepers: Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

velimshelemyahu banim zekharyahu habbekhor yedi'a'el hasheni zevadyahu hashelishi yatni'el harevi'i

Sons of Meshelemiah: Zechariah the first-born, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

elam hakhamishi yehokhanan hashishi elyeho'enay hashevi'i

Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

ule'oved edom banim shemayah habbekhor yehozavad hasheni yo'akh hashelishi vesakhar harevi'i unetanel hakhamishi

Sons of Obed-edom: Shemaiah the first-born, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, Sacar the fourth, Nethanel the fifth,

ammi'el hashishi yissashkhar hashevi'i pe'ulletay hashemini ki verekho elohim

Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth—for God had blessed him.

velishmayah veno nolad banim hammimshalim levet avihem ki-gibbore khayil hemmah

To his son Shemaiah were born sons who exercised authority in their clans because they were men of substance.

bene shemayah otni urefa'el ve'oved elzavad ekhayw bene-khayil elihu usemakhyahu

The sons of Shemaiah: Othni, Rephael, Obed, Elzabad—his brothers, men of ability, were Elihu and Semachiah.

kol-elleh mibbene oved edom hemmah uvenehem va'akhehem ish-khayil bakkoakh la'avodah shishim ushenayim le'oved edom

All these, sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and brothers, strong and able men for the service—62 of Obed-edom.

velimshelemyahu banim ve'akhim bene-khayil shemonah asar

Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, able men—18.

ulekhosah min-bene-merari banim shimri harosh ki lo-hayah vekhor vayesimehu avihu lerosh

Hosah of the Merarites had sons: Shimri the chief (he was not the first-born, but his father designated him chief),

khilqiyyahu hasheni tevalyahu hashelishi zekharyahu harevi'i kol-banim ve'akhim lekhosah sheloshah asar

Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brothers of Hosah—13.

le'elleh makhleqot hasho'arim lerashe haggevarim mishmarot le'ummat akhehem lesharet bevet Adonai

These are the divisions of the gatekeepers, by their chief men, [who worked in] shifts corresponding to their kindred, ministering in the House of GOD.

vayyappilu goralot kaqqaton kaggadol levet avotam lesha'ar vasha'ar

They cast lots, small and great alike, by clans, for each gate.

vayyippol haggoral mizrakhah leshelemyahu uzekharyahu veno yo'ets besekhel hippilu goralot vayyetse goralo tsafonah

The lot for the east [gate] fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots [for] Zechariah his son, a prudent counselor, and his lot came out to be the north [gate].

le'oved edom negbah ulevanayw bet ha'asuppim

For Obed-edom, the south [gate], and for his sons, the vestibule.

leshuppim ulekhosah lamma'arav im sha'ar shallekhet bamsillah ha'olah mishmar le'ummat mishmar

For Shuppim and for Hosah, the west [gate], with the Shallecheth gate on the ascending highway. Watch corresponded to watch:

lammizrakh haleviyyim shisha latsafonah layyom arba'ah lannegbah layyom arba'ah vela'asuppim shenayim shenayim

At the east—six Levites; at the north—four daily; at the south—four daily; at the vestibule—two by two;

lapparbar lamma'arav arba'ah lamsillah shenayim lapparbar

at the colonnade on the west—four at the causeway and two at the colonnade.

elleh makhleqot hasho'arim livne haqqorkhi velivne merari

These were the divisions of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and the sons of Merari.

vehaleviyyim akhiyyah al-otserot bet ha'elohim ule'otserot haqqodashim

And the Levites: Ahijah over the treasuries of the House of God and the treasuries of the dedicated things.

bene ladan bene haggereshunni leladan rashe ha'avot leladan haggereshunni yekhi'eli

The sons of Ladan: the sons of the Gershonites belonging to Ladan; the chiefs of the clans of Ladan, the Gershonite—Jehieli.

bene yekhi'eli zetam veyo'el akhiv al-otserot bet Adonai

The sons of Jehieli: Zetham and Joel; his brother was over the treasuries of the House of GOD.

la'amrami layyitshari lakhevroni la'ozzi'eli

Of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, the Uzzielites:

ushevu'el ben-gereshom ben-mosheh nagid al-ha'otsarot

Shebuel son of Gershom son of Moses was the chief officer over the treasuries.

ve'ekhayw le'eli'ezer rekhavyahu veno vishayahu veno veyoram beno vezikhri veno (vshlmvt) [ushelomit] beno

And his brothers: Eliezer, his son Rehabiah, his son Jeshaiah, his son Joram, his son Zichri, his son Shelomith—

hu shelomot ve'ekhayw al kol-otserot haqqodashim asher hiqdish david hammelekh verashe ha'avot lesare-ha'alafim vehamme'ot vesare hatsava

that Shelomith and his brothers were over all the treasuries of dedicated things that were dedicated by King David and the chiefs of the clans, and the officers of thousands and hundreds and the other army officers;

min-hammilkhamot umin-hashalal hiqdishu lekhazzeq levet Adonai

they dedicated some of the booty of the wars to maintain the House of GOD.

vekhol hahiqdish shemu'el haro'eh vesha'ul ben-qish ve'avner ben-ner veyo'av ben-tseruyah kol hammaqdish al yad-shelomit ve'ekhayw

All that Samuel the seer had dedicated, and Saul son of Kish, and Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah—or [what] any other man had dedicated, was under the charge of Shelomith and his brothers.

layyitshari kenanyahu uvanayw lammelakhah hakhitsonah al-yisra'el leshoterim uleshofetim

The Izharites: Chenaniah and his sons were over Israel as clerks and magistrates for affairs outside [the sanctuary].

lakhevroni khashavyahu ve'ekhayw bene-khayil elef usheva-me'ot al pequddat yisra'el me'ever layyarden maravah lekhol melekhet Adonai vela'avodat hammelekh

The Hebronites: Hashabiah and his brothers, capable men, 1,700, supervising Israel on the west side of the Jordan in all matters of GOD and the service of the king.

lakhevroni yeriyyah harosh lakhevroni letoledotayw le'avot bishnat ha'arba'im lemalkhut david nidrashu vayyimmatse vahem gibbore khayil beyazer gilad

The Hebronites: Jeriah, the chief of the Hebronites—they were investigated in the fortieth year of David’s reign by clans of all their lines, and men of substance were found among them in Jazer-gilead.

ve'ekhayw bene-khayil alpayim usheva me'ot rashe ha'avot vayyafqidem david hammelekh al-haruveni vehaggadi vakhatsi shevet hamenashi lekhol-devar ha'elohim udevar hammelekh

His brothers, able men, 2,700, chiefs of clans—David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in all matters of God and matters of the king.
