vayyavdel david vesare hatsava la'avodah livne asaf veheman vidutun (hnvyym) [hannibbe'im] bekhinnorot binvalim uvimtsiltayim vayehi misparam anshe melakhah la'avodatam

David and the officers of the army set apart for service the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who prophesied to the accompaniment of lyres, harps, and cymbals. The list of those who performed this work, according to their service, was:

livne asaf zakkur veyosef unetanyah va'asarelah bene asaf al yad-asaf hannibba al-yede hammelekh

Sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asarelah—sons of Asaph under the charge of Asaph, who prophesied by order of the king.

lidutun bene yedutun gedalyahu utseri vishayahu khashavyahu umattityahu shisha al yede avihem yedutun bakkinnor hannibba al-hodot vehallel la-Adonai

Jeduthun—the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, Mattithiah—6, under the charge of their father Jeduthun, who, accompanied on the harp, prophesied, praising and extolling GOD.

leheman bene heman buqqiyyahu mattanyahu uzzi'el shevu'el virimot khananyah khanani eli'atah giddalti veromamti ezer yoshbeqashah malloti hotir makhazi'ot

Heman—the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth;

kol-elleh vanim leheman khozeh hammelekh bedivre ha'elohim leharim qaren vayyitten ha'elohim leheman banim arba'ah asar uvanot shalosh

all these were sons of Heman, the seer of the king, [who uttered] prophecies for God’s greater glory. (God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.)

kol-elleh al-yede avihem bashir bet Adonai bimtsiltayim nevalim vekhinnorot la'avodat bet ha'elohim al yede hammelekh asaf vidutun veheman

All these were under the charge of their father for the singing in the House of GOD, to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps, and lyres, for the service of the House of God by order of the king. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman—

vayehi misparam im-akhehem melummede-shir la-Adonai kol-hammevin matayim shemonim ushemonah

their total number with their kindred, trained singers of GOD—all the masters, 288.

vayyappilu goralot mishmeret le'ummat kaqqaton kaggadol mevin im-talmid

They cast lots for shifts on the principle of “small and great alike, like master like apprentice.”

vayyetse haggoral harishon le'asaf leyosef gedalyahu hasheni hu-ve'ekhayw uvanayw shenem asar

The first lot fell to Asaph—to Joseph; the second, to Gedaliah, he and his brothers and his sons—12;

hashelishi zakkur banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the third, to Zaccur: his sons and his brothers—12;

harevi'i layyitsri banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the fourth, to Izri: his sons and his brothers—12;

hakhamishi netanyahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the fifth, to Nethaniah: his sons and his brothers—12;

hashishi vuqqiyyahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the sixth, to Bukkiah: his sons and his brothers—12;

hashevi'i yesarelah banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the seventh, to Jesarelah: his sons and his brothers—12;

hashemini yeshayahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the eighth, to Jeshaiah: his sons and his brothers—12;

hatteshi'i mattanyahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the ninth, to Mattaniah: his sons and his brothers—12;

ha'asiri shimi banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the tenth, to Shimei: his sons and his brothers—12;

ashte-asar azarel banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the eleventh to Azarel: his sons and his brothers—12;

hashenem asar lakhashavyah banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twelfth, to Hashabiah: his sons and his brothers—12;

lishloshah asar shuva'el banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the thirteenth, to Shubael: his sons and his brothers—12;

le'arba'ah asar mattityahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the fourteenth, to Mattithiah: his sons and his brothers—12;

lakhamisha asar liremot banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the fifteenth, to Jeremoth: his sons and his brothers—12;

leshisha asar lakhananyahu banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the sixteenth, to Hananiah: his sons and his brothers—12;

leshivah asar leyoshbeqashah banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the seventeenth, to Joshbekashah: his sons and his brothers—12;

lishmonah asar lakhanani banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the eighteenth, to Hanani: his sons and his brothers—12;

letishah asar lemalloti banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the nineteenth, to Mallothi: his sons and his brothers—12;

le'esrim le'eliyyatah banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twentieth, to Eliathah: his sons and his brothers—12;

le'ekhad ve'esrim lehotir banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twenty-first, to Hothir: his sons and his brothers—12;

lishnayim ve'esrim legiddalti banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twenty-second, to Giddalti: his sons and his brothers—12;

lishloshah ve'esrim lemakhazi'ot banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twenty-third, to Mahazioth: his sons and his brothers—12;

le'arba'ah ve'esrim leromamti azer banayw ve'ekhayw shenem asar

the twenty-fourth, to Romamti-ezer: his sons and his brothers—12.
