vekhol-yisra'el hityakhsu vehinnam ketuvim al-sefer malkhe yisra'el vihudah hoglu levavel bema'alam

All Israel was registered by genealogies; and these are in the book of the kings of Israel. And Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their trespass.

vehayyoshevim harishonim asher ba'akhuzzatam be'arehem yisra'el hakkohanim haleviyyim vehannetinim

The first to settle in their towns, on their property, were Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants,

uvirushalai͏m yashevu min-bene yehudah umin-bene vinyamin umin-bene efrayim umenasheh

while some of the Judahites and some of the Benjaminites and some of the Ephraimites and Manassehites settled in Jerusalem;

utay ben-ammihud ben-omri ben-imri ven-(vnymn-)[bani min-]bene-ferets ben-yehudah

Uthai son of Ammihud son of Omri son of Imri son of Bani, from the sons of Perez son of Judah;

umin-hashiloni asayah habbekhor uvanayw

and of the Shilonites: Asaiah the first-born and his sons.

umin-bene-zerakh ye'u'el va'akhehem shesh-me'ot vetishim

Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their kindred—690.

umin-bene binyamin sallu ben-meshullam ben-hodavyah ben-hassenu'ah

Of the Benjaminites: Sallu son of Meshullam son of Hodaviah son of Hassenuah,

veyivneyah ben-yerokham ve'elah ven-uzzi ben-mikhri umeshullam ben-shefatyah ben-re'u'el ben-yivniyyah

Ibneiah son of Jeroham, Elah son of Uzzi son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah son of Reuel son of Ibneiah;

va'akhehem letoledotam tesha me'ot vakhamishim veshisha kol-elleh anashim rashe avot levet avotehem

and their kindred, according to their lines—956. All these were chiefs of their ancestral clans.

umin-hakkohanim yedayah vihoyariv veyakhin

Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin,

va'azaryah ven-khilqiyyah ben-meshullam ben-tsadoq ben-merayot ben-akhituv negid bet ha'elohim

and Azariah son of Hilkiah son of Meshullam son of Zadok son of Meraioth son of Ahitub, chief officer of the House of God;

va'adayah ben-yerokham ben-pashkhur ben-malkiyyah umasay ben-adi'el ben-yakhzerah ben-meshullam ben-meshillemit ben-immer

and Adaiah son of Jeroham son of Pashhur son of Malchijah, and Maasai son of Adiel son of Jahzerah son of Meshullam son of Meshillemith son of Immer,

va'akhehem rashim levet avotam elef usheva me'ot veshishim gibbore khel melekhet avodat bet-ha'elohim

together with their kindred, chiefs of their clans—1,760, men of substance for the work of the service of the House of God.

umin-haleviyyim shemayah ven-khashuv ben-azriqam ben-khashavyah min-bene merari

Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub son of Azrikam son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

uvaqbaqqar kheresh vegalal umattanyah ben-mikha ben-zikhri ben-asaf

and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica son of Zichri son of Asaph;

ve'ovadyah ben-shemayah ben-galal ben-yedutun uverekhyah ven-asa ben-elqanah hayyoshev bekhatsre netofati

and Obadiah son of Shemaiah son of Galal son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah son of Asa son of Elkanah, who dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites.

vehasho'arim shallum ve'aqquv vetalmon va'akhiman va'akhihem shallum harosh

The gatekeepers were: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman; and their kinsman Shallum was the chief

ve'ad-hennah besha'ar hammelekh mizrakhah hemmah hasho'arim lemakhanot bene levi

hitherto in the King’s Gate on the east. They were the keepers belonging to the Levite camp.

veshallum ben-qore ben-evyasaf ben-qorakh ve'ekhayw levet-aviv haqqorkhim al melekhet ha'avodah shomere hassippim la'ohel va'avotehem al-makhaneh Adonai shomere hammavo

Shallum son of Kore son of Ebiasaph son of Korah, and his kindred of his clan, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, guards of the threshold of the Tent; their ancestors had been guards of the entrance to GOD’s camp.

ufinekhas ben-elazar nagid hayah alehem lefanim Adonai immo

And Phinehas son of Eleazar was the chief officer over them in time past; GOD was with him.

zekharyah ben meshelemyah sho'er petakh le'ohel mo'ed

Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

kullam habberurim lesho'arim bassippim matayim ushenem asar hemmah vekhatsrehem hityakhsam hemmah yissad david ushemu'el haro'eh be'emunatam

All these, who were selected as gatekeepers at the thresholds, were 212. They were selected by genealogies in their villages. David and Samuel the seer established them in their office of trust.

vehem uvenehem al-hashe'arim levet-Adonai levet ha'ohel lemishmarot

They and their descendants were in charge of the gates of the House of GOD, that is, the House of the Tent, as guards.

le'arba rukhot yihyu hasho'arim mizrakh yammah tsafonah vanegbah

The gatekeepers were on the four sides, east, west, north, and south;

va'akhehem bekhatsrehem lavo leshivat hayyamim me'et el-et im-elleh

and their kindred in their villages were obliged to join them every seven days, according to a fixed schedule.

ki ve'emunah hemmah arba'at gibbore hasho'arim hem haleviyyim vehayu al-halleshakhot ve'al ha'otserot bet ha'elohim

The four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted to be over the chambers and the treasuries of the House of God.

usevivot bet-ha'elohim yalinu ki-alehem mishmeret vehem al-hammafteakh velabboqer labboqer

They spent the night near the House of God; for they had to do guard duty, and they were in charge of opening it every morning.

umehem al-kele ha'avodah ki-vemispar yevi'um uvemispar yotsi'um

Some of them had charge of the service vessels, for they were counted when they were brought back and taken out.

umehem memunnim al-hakkelim ve'al kol-kele haqqodesh ve'al-hassolet vehayyayin vehashemen vehallevonah vehabbesamim

Some of them were in charge of the vessels and all the holy vessels, and of the flour, wine, oil, incense, and spices.

umin-bene hakkohanim roqekhe hammirqakhat labbesamim

Some of the priests blended the compound of spices.

umattityah min-haleviyyim hu habbekhor leshallum haqqorkhi be'emunah al ma'aseh hakhavittim

Mattithiah, one of the Levites, the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with making the flat cakes.

umin-bene haqqehati min-akhehem al-lekhem hamma'arakhet lehakhin shabbat shabbat

Also some of their Kohathite kindred had charge of the rows of bread, to prepare them for each sabbath.

ve'elleh hameshorerim rashe avot lalviyyim balleshakhot (ftyrym) [peturim] ki-yomam valaylah alehem bammelakhah

Now these are the singers, the chiefs of Levitical clans who remained in the chambers free of other service, for they were on duty day and night.

elleh rashe ha'avot lalviyyim letoledotam rashim elleh yashevu virushalai͏m

These were chiefs of Levitical clans, according to their lines; these chiefs lived in Jerusalem.

uvegivon yashevu avi-givon (yvl) [ye'i'el] veshem ishto ma'akhah

The father of Gibeon, Jeiel, lived in Gibeon, and the name of his wife was Maacah.

uveno habbekhor avdon vetsur veqish uva'al vener venadav

His first-born son, Abdon; then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

ugedor ve'akhyo uzekharyah umiqlot

Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth;

umiqlot holid et-shimam ve'af-hem neged akhehem yashevu virushalai͏m im-akhehem

Mikloth begot Shimeam; and they lived in Jerusalem opposite their kindred, with their kindred.

vener holid et-qish veqish holid et-sha'ul vesha'ul holid et-yehonatan ve'et-malkishua ve'et-avinadav ve'et-eshba'al

Ner begot Kish, Kish begot Saul, Saul begot Jonathan, Malchi-shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal;

uven-yehonatan meriv ba'al umeri-va'al holid et-mikhah

and the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begot Micah.

uvene mikhah piton vamelekh vetakhrea

The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Taharea;

ve'akhaz holid et-yarah veyarah holid et-alemet ve'et-azmavet ve'et-zimri vezimri holid et-motsa

Ahaz begot Jarah, and Jarah begot Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; Zimri begot Moza.

umotsa holid et-bina urefayah veno elasah veno atsel beno

Moza begot Binea; his son was Rephaiah, his son Eleasah, his son Azel.

ule'atsel shisha vanim ve'elleh shemotam azriqam bokheru veyishma'el ushe'aryah ve'ovadyah vekhanan elleh bene atsal

Azel had six sons and these were their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
