שִׁ֥יר הַֽמַּעֲל֗וֹת לְדָ֫וִ֥ד לוּלֵ֣י יְ֭הֹוָה שֶׁהָ֣יָה לָ֑נוּ יֹאמַר־נָ֝֗א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
shir hamma'alot ledavid lule Adonai shehayah lanu yomar-na yisra'el
A song of ascents. Of David. Were it not for GOD, who was on our side, let Israel now declare,
לוּלֵ֣י יְ֭הֹוָה שֶׁהָ֣יָה לָ֑נוּ בְּק֖וּם עָלֵ֣ינוּ אָדָֽם׃
lule Adonai shehayah lanu bequm alenu adam
were it not for GOD, who was on our side when others assailed us,
אֲ֭זַי חַיִּ֣ים בְּלָע֑וּנוּ בַּחֲר֖וֹת אַפָּ֣ם בָּֽנוּ׃
azay khayyim bela'unu bakharot appam banu
they would have swallowed us alive in their burning rage against us;
אֲ֭זַי הַמַּ֣יִם שְׁטָפ֑וּנוּ נַ֝֗חְלָה עָבַ֥ר עַל־נַפְשֵֽׁנוּ׃
azay hammayim shetafunu nakhlah avar al-nafshenu
the waters would have carried us off, the torrent would have swept over us;
אֲ֭זַי עָבַ֣ר עַל־נַפְשֵׁ֑נוּ הַ֝מַּ֗יִם הַזֵּידוֹנִֽים׃
azay avar al-nafshenu hammayim hazzedonim
over us would have swept the seething waters.
בָּר֥וּךְ יְהֹוָ֑ה שֶׁלֹּ֥א נְתָנָ֥נוּ טֶ֝֗רֶף לְשִׁנֵּיהֶֽם׃
barukh Adonai shello netananu teref leshinnehem
Blessed is GOD, who did not let us be ripped apart by their teeth.
נַפְשֵׁ֗נוּ כְּצִפּ֥וֹר נִמְלְטָה֮ מִפַּ֢ח י֫וֹקְשִׁ֥ים הַפַּ֥ח נִשְׁבָּ֗ר וַאֲנַ֥חְנוּ נִמְלָֽטְנוּ׃
nafshenu ketsippor nimletah mippakh yoqeshim happakh nishbar va'anakhnu nimlatenu
We are like a bird escaped from the fowler’s trap; the trap broke and we escaped.
עֶ֭זְרֵנוּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃ {פ}
ezrenu beshem Adonai oseh shamayim va'arets
